Steps of Faith

The Graduation Program — Steps of Faith -  is a discipleship-based initiative supporting families who care for children with cerebral palsy. Families meet twice weekly for up to 18 months to receive spiritual mentoring, practical life and business training, and strengthened community relationships. The subproject adds targeted disability support: weekly physical therapy for children, transportation to and from therapy sessions, and tailored assistance so families can access medical care and therapies.

Key components:

  • Weekly physical therapy and rehabilitation support for children with cerebral palsy
  • Transportation to therapy and medical appointments
  • Practical life skills and small-business training tailored to caregivers’ needs and capacities
  • Biblical discipleship, mentoring, and relationship-building with staff and local leaders
  • Collective management of a group enterprise, with participants deciding how to distribute funds and assets at graduation
  • Provision of individual income-generating assets for some families (examples: livestock, motorcycle, rented farmland and seeds), based on desire and ability

Program goals:

  • Improve children’s physical function and access to ongoing therapy
  • Reduce caregiver burden by providing transport and coordinated support
  • Strengthen families’ faith, resilience, and willingness to serve
  • Diversify and stabilize household income and improve food security, water and health access
  • Enable families to meet educational needs for their children and strengthen community inclusion
